A fire engine from RNAS Culdrose covering flying operations at Predannack Airfield became stuck on the A3083 on the Lizard yesterday after coming off the road.
The fire engine went off the road and into a ditch on A3083 Bochym Hill between Chypons turn off (Cury Cross Lanes) and Mullion turn off (Mullion).
No-one is reported to be injured in the accident and no one else involved. A recovery vehicle is currently at the scene.
A report from Inrix reads: "Queueing traffic due to earlier accident on A3083 Bochym Hill both ways between Chypons turn off (Cury Cross Lanes) and Mullion turn off (Mullion). Affecting traffic between Helston and The Lizard."
A Royal Navy spokesperson said: “We can confirm a fire engine from RNAS Culdrose covering flying operations at Predannack Airfield has become stuck on the A3083 on the Lizard. No-one was injured in the incident and the vehicle will be recovered in due course.”
This the second time a RNAS Culdrose fire engine has come off the road.
Last December a fire engine overturned on the Lizard road, blocking it to traffic.
The Royal Navy fire engine was on its way from RNAS Culdrose to Predannack Airfield at the time.
Thankfully no one was injured in the incident.
However, the road has been left blocked between Cury Cross Lanes and Lizard Point Holiday Park.
