Entry forms for this year's Falmouth Sailing Week 23 racing go live next Sunday.

This seven-day long event has been raced annually since 1830 and was the precursor of what has become Falmouth Week.

The shore side and music events took off in their own direction over the past 20 years and are organised by Falmouth Town Council and Southwest Bars and Events.

The Port of Falmouth Sailing Association was formed to take on the organisation of the racing on behalf of the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club, Flushing Sailing Club, Helford River Sailing Club, St Mawes Sailing Club, Restronguet Sailing Club and Mylor Yacht Club.

The unique aspect of this regatta is that each club takes it in turn to host the regatta teas and prize giving rather than having a regatta centre.

Recipients of the RYA’s Event of the Year in 2020 we are building up the numbers of entrants and have amazing support form the local marine business owners who continue to support the event.

Including the elite Ancasta Champagne Race and the Mainbrace Rum Race which are raced on the middle Wednesday of the regatta.

There are two new sponsors Heather and Lay and A2 Rigging and Covers onboard for the first time too.

This year we welcome the IRC South-West Championships as part of the racing for the high-performance racing yachts in the Bay Fleet.

The Firebird catamarans also race in their three and six day series as part of this fleet, so expect to see some spectacular action out in Falmouth Bay.

The more traditional Falmouth classes such as the Falmouth Sunbeams, the St Mawes One Design, Rustler/Pipers 24, Shrimper 19, Ajax 23, Gaffer Class and the Falmouth Working Boats all race in the Carrick Roads alongside the YTC classes during the week. We’re hoping to have more dinghy class entrants in the Carrick Fleet this year too.

All classes will have separate starts and this gives a great opportunity to grow race experience. Entries are available for single days at the start of the week, to three-day series or the whole seven days. This gives opportunity for everyone.

The Notice of Race is on the Website which details all the fine print needed by competitors.

We are partnering with the RCYC Sailing Trust this year, to help raise funds for their valued charitable work in the community.

The event kicks off on Saturday, August 5 with a reception and race briefing from the two fleet race officers at the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club and closes on Saturday the 12th August for final prizegiving at Flushing Sailing Club.

The entry forms go live on April 2 and as an incentive there will be early bird rates available before July 15 so anyone interested, head to: https://falmouthweek.co.uk/sailing-week to get your entries in soon to take advantage of the discounts!
