A warning has gone out by police after children were spotted climbing over roof tops in a Cornish town.

The police drone team was called in to help a neighbourhood officer on a callout, with response officers from Camborne also drafted in.

It was after reports came in on Thursday night of youngsters clambering on top of roofs in Redruth.

Members of the public had called in with their concerns about the safety of those involved.

Camborne, Pool and Redruth Police have now put out a warning, saying: “We cannot stress enough how dangerous this is.

“The roof tops can be very slippery, in some places very steep, and in a lot of places have very big drops onto concrete.”

The team urged families to talk about the dangers, adding: “We would like all parents to speak to their children and ensure they are not climbing onto the roofs.”

And police vowed to continue sending out drones to prevent it from happening again and to find out the identities of the youths.

“We will continue to request support from our drone unit in order to identify those involved, in an attempt to prevent any repeat of this or anyone involved coming to harm,” added the team.
