Big Mac lovers are in for a shock as Falmouth McDonald's is to close for a month for renovation to take place.

The popular fast food outlet in Dracaena Avenue Falmouth closed its doors to customers from Monday (April 24) reopening on May 25.

This is to allow for what the company describes as minor alterations to elevations to include two extensions totalling 14 sqm with aluminium cladding, the relocation of the entrance door with sections of new shopfront to match existing and a new access door to be installed with associated works to the site.

The burger takeaway was granted permission from Cornwall Council last year to go-ahead with the alterations, despite opposition from Falmouth Town Council.

Councillors refusal due to highways as access to the site from the busy roundabout is already heavily congested and any increase in traffic to the site will have a detrimental effect on highways.

However permission was granted for the work to go-ahead by Cornwall Council in September last year.
