Huge crowds thronged the streets of Falmouth on Saturday to celebrate the first of a number of Cornwall Pride events across the Duchy.

Once again deputy mayor and mayor elect Kirstie Edwards had the privilege of leading the parade through the town with a massive rainbow flag prominently displayed.

"It's joyful and wonderful to see so many beautiful humans celebrating who they are in our welcoming and kind town," said Cllr Edwards "Falmouth loves you all."

The marching parade, a colourful and vibrant event including walkers, walking bands, dance groups, organisations and charities, left Prince of Wales Pier at 12pm heading for Events Square for an afternoon of entertainment.

The organisers of the event say the one day Pride events across Cornwall are intended to shine a beacon in Cornwall and the South West on peoples’ right to be who they want to be.

Posting on Facebook, Cornwall Pride said: "What an incredible Falmouth Pride! The perfect kick off for Cornwall Pride 2023.
