One person has been taken to hospital this afternoon after a three vehicle collision at Ponsanooth.

Police were called to Pelean Cross, Ponsanooth on the A393 following reports of a three vehicle collision at around 2.20pm.

One person was reported taken to hospital while three others were treated at the scene

Inrix, the traffic monitoring system reported that the A393 was blocked both ways following the collision.

In its latest update at 7pm it said: "A393 both ways closed due to multi-vehicle accident between Burncoose turn off (Redruth) and A39 (Treluswell Roundabout, Penryn). Traffic is coping well. Reported three vehicles are involved, affecting traffic between Penryn and Redruth."

A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said two people were treated at the scene for injuries.

"Police were called at 2.20pm to Pelean Cross, Ponsanooth, following reports of a three vehicle collision. One person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"Two others are being assessed at the scene but are not currently believed to have any serious injuries. The road is currently closed and driver are asked to use alternative routes."
