A large section of the bridleway to Porthleven is to be closed off for almost two months.

A Temporary Traffic Prohibition of Traffic order has been put in place by Cornwall Council to prevent traffic from using an area of highway, this being Bridleway 15, between grid reference SW63817 25532 and SW64125 24562, and Footpath 17 for its entire length at Porthleven.

'Traffic' in this order includes the use of bicycles.

The closure begins on June 1, 2023, with order in place for up to six months. However, works are expected to be completed by July 28, 2023.

The prohibition will be in force 24 hours a day, with weekends included.

An alternative route is being provided for people who wish to access the path safely, which takes them along the edge of Loe Pool, through the Penrose Estate.

Cornwall Council has issued the order due to surfacing works being carried out on or near the public right of way.

The order states: “While the order is in operation, traffic, including bicycle movement along the highway will be temporarily restricted.

“No personnel, except upon the direction of a police constable in uniform, cause or permit any vehicle or pedal cycle to enter on, proceed or wait in the length of highway described.”
