People in Helston were getting revved up on Friday when a group of motorbikers were spotted gathered in the town along with a film crew.

It caused much interest when the group were seen filming at the top of Church Street and Market Pace during the afternoon.

At the centre of the group, standing on the cobbles outside the Old Butter Market, was Henry Cole – known as being the presenter of ITV programme The Motorbike Show.

Annette MacTavish, director of Helston’s Museum of Cornish Life, confirmed to the Packet that the show’s crew had indeed been filming in the town – including a brief segment inside the museum.

She said: “Henry ran in and ran out again. They were doing a quick stop.

“They did a quick bit of filming in the museum and then ran out.”

The visit was part of a wider segment showing Henry travelling from Penzance to The Lizard, which is due to air later this year.

Last autumn it was confirmed that Series 11 of The Motorbike Show had been rescheduled and will now start on ITV4 on Wednesdays at 9pm from October 5.

According to the show’s publicity, The Motorbike Show is Britain’s longest-running motorcycle magazine programme, which sees presenter Henry Cole sharing his passion for motorbikes.

Each series features a restoration project, starting with a bike in need of some TLC, which will be transformed, with a little help from Henry’s mechanically-minded friends Sam Lovegrove and Allen Millyard.

Henry also rides out on some of his favourite roads, both in the UK and further afield, taking the opportunity to test different bits of machinery in different environments.
