THE sun is out, the temperature is rising, and summer is well and truly on its way, so there are plenty of reasons to wear a smile, right?

Well, apparently not, as certain sections of the Falmouth community have seemingly taken it upon themselves to become the 'moaners-in-chief' of the town.

Some are up in arms about the new mural that has been painted on the steps of Jacob's Ladder, others are frothing at the mouth blaming students for all of the town's issues, and some just like to spout their own brand misery onto everything Falmouth-related they see on Facebook.

This Skipper assumes that some of these people are merely venting frustrations they have with the town, and possibly country, they live in. Many of these frustrations are legitimate issues that we would all like to see dealt with.

However, having a pop at a mural, which is actually quite nice, is probably not one.

Tearing people down who try to do nice things for the town will only make things worse. It will leave Falmouth a miserable place with nothing for anyone to do except wallow in their own misery and blame everyone else for it.

Why not engage with the people looking to improve the town? Get involved? Or even, heaven forbid, get on and try and do something yourself!

Cheer up, Falmouth.
