POLICE in Cornwall are warning residents of a town in Cornwall to stay alert after a spate of thefts over the last few weeks.

Residents in St Austell were warned by police to keep an eye out after an increase in thefts over the last few weeks in the town and its surrounding areas.

Items stolen include motor vehicles, trailers, caravans, boats, and tools. Police are advising the public to be aware of suspicious activity and are reminding them report incidents.

A spokesperson from Devon & Cornwall Police’s St Austell team said: "We are investigating crimes to hold perpetrators to account and would like to encourage members of our community be observant.

“Please ensure your property, vehicles and outbuildings including sheds are secure. Where possible, keep tools and expensive equipment out of sight and ensure they are locked away.

"Check locks and consider if they need upgrading and whether ground anchors will improve the security of your property.”
