Falmouth is expecting one of its busiest days ever this Saturday, at the peak of the Armed Forces Day celebrations.

To cut the congestion, a one day Park and Ride service is being set up, that will provide more than 15 hours of buses every few minutes to take passengers into and out of the town centre.

All town centre car parks will be closed, or in use for events. Gyllyngvase Car Park will be open for disabled parking only. But organisers want everyone to have a safe and happy time, and of course for local businesses to serve thousands of happy customers.

Incoming traffic is being signposted to Falmouth University’s Tremough campus, although shortly before 10.40am Cornwall Council announcecd that Tremough was full and the Ponsharden Park & Ride (near Lidl) was now being opened up for additional parking.

Follow signs as directed, as this may change again through the course of the day - we'll add any updates to our live article here: Armed Forces Day 2023 in Falmouth - LIVE

Fleets of buses will ferry passengers into and out of Falmouth town centre all day from 8am to 11.35pm.

Fares will be £2 return per person or £5 return per family (two adults, up to four children). Pay on the bus by cash, card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. There is wheelchair space on each bus.

The service will continue until late – the last outbound Park and Ride bus from Falmouth Moor will be at 10.52pm, with later services from Pendennis Castle until 11.35pm for those leaving the Proms concert.

The usual Saturday buses and trains will also run – but please note Falmouth Town railway station will not be open.
