It's been a busy 24 hours for Portreath Coastguard Rescue Team with three call outs in as many hours.

Just before 2am on July 15 we were tasked to reports of a missing teenager in the vicinity of Hayle beach.

The team met up with the security staff at St Ives Bay Holiday camp alongside St Ives Coastguard and Devon and Cornwall Police and formulated a plan.

The first task was to locate the first informant and gather as much information as possible before initiating our search plans.

However, shortly before 4am the teenager was reunited with their family and all teams could stand down and return to their respective stations.

The second call of the day came at around 3pm (July 15) where the team were alerted to a lone paddle boarder between Godrevy and Portreath.

The team were asked to check on the welfare of the individual due to the rough sea conditions. The team separated into multiple search groups before locating the paddle boarder coming ashore on Portreath beach.

Members of the team met them on the beach and issued some safety advice and to confirm details of their trip that was logged with the operations room in Falmouth.

Then shortly before 6pm on July 15 they werre called to help RNLI lifeguards at Portreath with an overdue swimmer. After receiving all details and descriptions the swimmer fortunately returned.

This was a false alarm with good intent.
