TRURO City have ended pre-season undefeated after a convincing 4-1 away victory over Tiverton Town at the Ian Moorcroft Stadium, writes Cameron Weldon.

New signing Ryan Law opened the scoring inside 60 seconds before Andrew Neal slotted home a second just before halftime.

Former City man Niall Thompson scored a penalty straight after the restart, but Ed Palmer quickly restored Truro’s two-goal lead with a header at the back post.

Neal coolly dinked the keeper to score his second and Truro’s fourth ensuring the score line reflected City’s dominance.

City opened the scoring inside 60 seconds. Will Dean’s corner wasn’t cleared properly by the hosts backline and Ryan Law took full advantage firing the ball home.

Half chances for Dan Rooney and Tyler Harvey followed before Rooney saw a shot beat the keeper but cannon back off the post.

Tiverton had their first chance of the game on the half-hour mark. Thompson charged down the right-hand side before releasing a powerful shot into the side netting.

Moments later Jack Rice did well to make room for himself and hit a shot against the woodwork.

City doubled their lead on 40 minutes. Neal picked the pockets of the Tiverton defender to win possession and go through on goal. He kept his cool and effortlessly passed the ball into the net.

The half was ended 5 minutes early by the referee due to an incident with a supporter in the crowd.

Back underway in the second half and Tiverton quickly reduced the deficit.

Thompson was fouled in the box and the referee pointed straight to the spot.

Thompson stepped up and sent young Morgan Jones the wrong way to pull his side back into the game.

Any hopes of a comeback were quickly shut down as within two minutes the White Tigers restored their two goal lead.

Neal was fouled on the edge of the box. Dean took the free kick and delivered to the back post where Ed Palmer headed home past the keeper.

Palmer then had another chance at the back post but this time he opted to shoot but he sliced his effort over the bar.

Dan Rooney saw a low shot saved by the keeper.

Neal and Rooney both saw penalty appeals waved away before Neal got his second of the game.

Substitute and fellow new boy Obed Yeboah played a great through ball for Neal to chase. He again went through on goal, and he expertly dinked the ball over the keeper to score his 7th goal of pre-season.

Ryan Brett nearly added a late fifth with two minutes to go. The midfielder tried his luck from distance and saw his effort initially fumbled by the keeper, but the Tiverton shot-stopper managed to grasp the ball.

Tiverton proved stubborn opposition in spells, but City controlled the game and could have won by a greater margin as they finished pre-season in style.
