A MOTORCYCLIST has died after a traffic collision with a tipper lorry near St Austell yesterday. 

The incident took place on the B3274 between Roche and Stenalees at around 7:45am on Tuesday, August 1 and involved a tipper lorry and a green Kawasaki motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 39-year-old man from Roche, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say his next of kin have been informed are being supportedly by specially trained officers.

The female driver of the lorry was uninjured. 

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the B3274 are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

"Officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision between Roche and Stenalees, near St Austell, involving a tipper lorry and a green Kawasaki motorcycle at 7.45am on Tuesday 1 August.

"As a result of the collision, a 39-year-old man from Roche, who was the motorcycle rider, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

"The female driver of the lorry was uninjured.

"The road was closed while forensic collision investigation work was carried out at the scene.

"Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road was closed.

"It was reopened at around 4.10pm.
