ORGANISERS of an upcoming inaugural sea shanty festival in Cornwall have revealed the event's new logo which has been designed by a local primary school student.

The team behind The Lizard Sea Shanty Festival has unveiled the brand-new logo which was selected as the best among young designers from Landewednack Primary School.

However, due to regulations, the name of the artist is yet to be revealed until permission has been obtained from the pupil's parents.

A spokesperson from the festival said: “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the young artist behind this wonderful creation and express our gratitude for her fabulous contribution.

“Her talent shines as a testament to the artistic prowess nurtured within the walls of Landewednack Village School.”

The festival takes place on September 23 at the Top House Inn. It will begin at 12pm and end at midnight.

Performances from local shanty singers and students from Landewednack will take place throughout the evening.

The shanty festival aims to be synonymous with promoting local talent and supporting a great cause. The event will be held annually and is dedicated to raising funds for The Lizard Lifeboat Charity.
