Police called to Mylor Bridge after a child reported being chased by a man with a knife say they cannot find any evidence to support the claim.

A ten-year-old boy claimed he was chased by a man in a black hoodie and straggly blonde hair who was brandishing a knife.

The ten-year-old boy told his parents that he had been coming out of the Mylor Newsagents when he was allegedly chased by the man.

He said he was chased up to the council owned garages off Bonython Close before getting home and telling his mother.

A warning was posted on the Mylor community Facebook page causing a lot of concern among residents, especially those with children.

The police were called and talked to the boy and studied CCTV but found no video showing he had been followed.

A police spokesperson told the Packet that they were called to Mylor Bridge at 9am on Sunday morning (August 13) after it was reported a man had chased a child with a knife.

They said they carried a search of the area and studied CCTV but did not find anyone matching the description or see anyone following the child.

"Officers were called at around 9am on Sunday 13 August to the area of Mylor Bridge following a report that a child had been chased by a man in possession of a knife," they said.

"The child had made their way to safety where the incident was reported to police.

"Officers carried out a search of the area and did not locate anyone matching the description. CCTV was also reviewed and did not show anyone following the child."
