What the people of Falmouth have always known has been confirmed, that it is one of the most relaxing seaside towns in the UK.

Admittedly the survey was by a sauna company which also claimed that Newquay was more relaxing than Falmouth, but whatever.

Falmouth was rated at number six while Newquay was at number four, according to “wellness experts” (their words not ours) UK Saunas.

However it also found that Blackpool was the most relaxing seaside town in the UK, so how accurate the survey is remains to be seen.

It found that 73% of adults are more likely to opt for staycations like seaside trips instead of a holiday abroad as the cost of living crisis continues to bite, and Newquay and Falmouth in Cornwall have crowned the 4th and 6th most relaxing seaside towns for a trip away.

“Additionally, with St Ives placing 12th, just missing the top ten, Cornwall can be considered one of the most peaceful counties in the UK,” said the report.

Putting pedestrian crossing on busy Falmouth road would mean removal of lay-by

The study, which analysed the number of hotels and spas in seaside towns and villages, as well as their population, also ranked locations using categories from the UK Health Index related to peacefulness and relaxation. This includes categories like “Access to Green Spaces”, “Crime Rate” and “Mental Health Rate”.

A breakdown of the UK’s top most peaceful seaside towns and villages had some surprising inclusions. Blackpool at number 1 anybody? Also, Falmouth is the only one that has its county identified.
