CORNWALL'S most dangerous neighbourhoods have been revealed, according to new crime data. 

The data, compiled by CrimeRate.co.uk from sources including Police Force incident reports, FOI requests, social media signals, and first-party data collection operations, has detailed which areas of Cornwall have the highest rate of crimes committed per 1,000 people in 2022.

Truro South and Central had the highest number of crimes per 1,000 people with 62.54, followed by Zennor with 57.42, Penzance Quay with 50.7, and Newquay West with 48.22. 

The neighborhood in Cornwall with the lowest number of crimes per 1,000 people, according to the data, was Falmouth West and South with 10.37, followed by Porthleven with 14.72, St Austell East with 16.43, Penryn with 17.27, and West Penwith and St Buryan with 17.76. 

In the South West as a whole, 319,393 were reported in 2022, with an average crime rate per 1,000 people of 56 and a rate difference of being 31 per cent safer than the rest of England. 

The region with the lowest number of crimes reported was North East England with 205,078 reported in 2022. London had the highest number of crimes reported in England in 2022 with 782,816, followed by South East England with 620,854. 

The data also revealed that violent and sexual crimes were the most common across the year, with 34 offences reported per 1,000 people, with the rate increasing since 2016. 

The least common offences reported where the possession of weapons with a rate of 0.77 per 1,000 people. However, this rate has been increasing since at least 2016. 

The overall crime rate in England in 2022 was 81 crimes per 1,000 people. Out of all of England's larger towns and cities, Westminster is the most dangerous. The next most dangerous is Middlesbrough, and Leeds comes in as third most dangerous. There are safer parts of England, starting with Paignton which ranks as the safest area in England, followed up by Bamber Bridge in second place, and Fareham in third place.
