A well-respected fisherman in the restaurant industry is bringing his expertise to Helston as he prepares to open a fishmonger in the town.

Jace Bowden owner of Kernow Fish LTD has worked with Michelin-star restaurants including Gordon Ramsay's and Rick Stien for several years and his business is currently based at Water-Ma-Trout.

However, Jace will now move the business into the former Tinner's Bakery shop in Coinagehall Street where he hopes to provide locals with fresh, sustainable fish at affordable prices.

Jace also wants to offer a delivery service to those who struggle to get into the town. He said: "For anyone who struggles to get into the town, I would like to deliver fresh fish to them, with no charge for delivery.

"I am not going to charge, it's a gift back to those who need it."

Before the last shop closed in town, there had been a long history of fishmongers in Helston dating back to the 18th century. At one time there were multiple fishmongers in the town, but the last shop closed in 2021, followed by the fresh fish counter in Helston's Tesco.

Now the lease on the property has been signed, Jace is aiming to open the shop in early October. However, he will continue to trade from his current base at Water-Ma-Trout.
