Drivers are being warned of a road closure in the Perranporth area this morning following a crash that has left one person in custody.

The A3075 at Penhallow, between Three Burrows and Goonhavern, is currently closed in both directions, as of 10.30am.

It follows a crash involving a single vehicle, which ended up in a hedge.

Recovery vehicles are said to be on their way, but the road is shut until the estate car can be removed.

The crash has taken place close to the turn off for Mithian.

Reporting the incident on social media with a warning, Devon and Cornwall Police’s Roads Policing Team, said: “Recovery on the way. Thankfully no serious injuries but one person in custody for drink driving.”

Traffic monitoring system INRIX is also reporting the incident, saying: “A3075 Penhallow - A3075 both ways blocked; queueing traffic due to accident at Mithian turn off.”

It is not the only issue on the roads this morning. On the A30 at Carland Cross there is queueing traffic on the eastbound carriageway, the before the turn off for the A39, Carland Cross. Travel time is currently reported to be 20 minutes to cross that stretch.

And on the A30 at Blackwater there is also queueing traffic, again heading eastbound, close to the junction for the A3075 / A390 / B3277 Chiverton Cross Roundabout. There are currently delays of around five minutes.
