Friends and family of a biker who has died following a massive stroke last year are hoping to raise £2,500 to give him the send-off he deserves.

Ivor Uren from Redruth died just five days after more than a thousand bikers took part in the Martin Jennings Memorial Run to raise money for the Stroke Association in his honour.

Now the family of Ivor has set up a JustGiving page with a target of raising £2,500 towards his funeral costs including his last journey in a sidecar along the north cliffs. The funeral will be held on October 12 at 1pm at Camborne Crematorium.

Hundreds of bikers are expected to escort Ivor on his final journey.

Writing on the JustGiving page Jenna Harris, who set it up, said: "Ivor was well-known in the biker community. His passion for racing motorcycles was a huge part of his life from a young age, his first experience of riding on a motorcycle was when he was three years [old].

"From racing in Isle of Man to riding the Cornish coast. His dad used to race motorcycle sidecars in Isle of Man and we thought it would be a lovely idea for Ivor to be transported to the crematorium in a motorcycle sidecar and supported by his fellow family and friends for his last ride along the north cliffs.

“We all know this would have meant a lot to Ivor and a fantastic tribute to a truly wonderful and caring man who will be sadly missed.

“We appreciate that this is a bit of challenging time for everyone financially with the cost of living crisis but any donation no matter how small would be massively appreciated to help fund this amazing send off!”

David Saunby, organiser of the Martin Jennings Memorial Run, and been helping Ivor's partner Sandra Richards in the funeral arrangements for a biker funeral said, "With the costs involved of funerals nowadays, and the extra cost of bringing down a motorcycle hearse from up country, Sandra needs financial help to offset the cost for a motorcycle hearse which would be a fitting tribute to carry Ivor with a motorcycle escort on his last journey to Camborne Crematorium on Thursday, October 12 for a 1pm service.”

He added: "I am hoping that the biker family and friends of Ivor will pull together and help in the funding of a motorcycle hearse through the Just Giving page to give Ivor a wonderful biker send-off".
