A series of sculptures made from litter and reclaimed materials from beaches to tackle dog fouling in Cornwall has been launched in Falmouth.
The Clean Cornwall “Poo Dog” Project campaign will see the instalment of a series of sculptures in dog fouling hotspots across the county, backed with a social media campaign to raise awareness of dog fouling in Cornwall.
The project aims to highlight the issue of dog mess, spark discussion and celebrate responsible dog owners who are doing their part to keep Cornwall clean.
Over the past few months, the Clean Cornwall team have been crafting an innovative campaign to help Cornwall’s communities combat the issue of dog fouling in our otherwise stunning outdoor spaces.
The final solution? A series of canine sculptures made from litter and reclaimed materials to be installed in dog fouling hotspots across the county.
The campaign - aptly named “Poo Dog” - was officially launched with the installation of a sculpture at Boscawen Fields in Falmouth, which has been identified as an area with particularly high rates of dog mess.
Jade Jackson, Project Coordinator for the organisation stated “The aim of this campaign is to celebrate those who always clean up after their dog, and to try a light-hearted alternative to signage which can often be negative or completely overlooked.

“The sculpture was created almost entirely from materials that we have collected on litter picks across the county, highlighting how much waste is being strewn across our ecosystems - often including dog poo neatly bagged in non-biodegradable plastic, just to be left in a hedge or on the path.
“If you happen to spot one of our dog sculptures out on a walk, then we encourage you to snap a picture with #poodog to show your support for poo-free paths.”
