A Falmouth man who pleaded not guilty to harassing a woman in Redruth and damaging her Range Rover Evoque has been convicted after a trial.

Gary Jay Terry Harrington, aged 34, of Meadowcourt, Meadowside Road went on trial before magistrates at Truro Magistrates’ Court on October 11 last week.

He was found guilty of causing criminal damage to the Ranger Rover to an amount unknown but below £5,000 on August 21, 2022 at Redruth. He had earlier pleaded not guilty to the offence when he appeared at Truro Magistrates Court on March 27 this year.

He was also found guilty of harassment without violence against the owner of the Evoque in that between March 31, 2022 and August 22, 2022 at Redruth he pursued a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of the woman which he knew or ought to have known amounted to the harassment of her in that he went to her home address, sent her unwanted messages and caused damage to her car.

Harrington was remanded on bail until November 11 at 11am in courtroom two, Truro Magistrates' Court to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared. He was ordered to attend the hearing in person.

He was released for the time being on the condition he not to enter the road where the woman lived in Redruth to prevent interference with witnesses.
