CORNWALL'S first plough-to-bottle distillery has been handpicked as the face of a new national Lloyds Bank campaign.

Colwith Farm Distillery features in Lloyds Bank’s new ‘By the Side of Business’ national campaign, now appearing across billboards - including motorway services, Great Western Railway and The London Underground – TV, print, digital and social media.

The Cornish distillery, with a reputation for creating award-winning spirits sustainably, was selected as the lead case-study in the extensive new campaign due to their commitment to sustainability, using business as a force for positive change and a pioneering example of agricultural diversity.

Founded on five generations of farming history the distillery, led by founder Steve Dustow, creates award-winning gin and vodka using Cornish potatoes grown on the family farm in Lanlivery.

Unlike most distilleries who buy-in mass produced ethanol, Colwith make spirits from scratch, on one site - which is complex and unusual - transforming spuds into spirits, sustainably on a single estate.

The new campaign showcases that ‘good things are happening at Colwith’, highlighting the ambitious company as a forward-thinking SME representing Cornish business on a national scale.

Steve Dustow, founder of Colwith Farm Distillery, says: “We’re proudly plough-to-bottle. This way we have full control of our production process, creating premium spirits sustainably from our humble Cornish potatoes.

"We don’t take the easiest or cheapest route – we invest in solar power, source our own water, and spread our potato waste back on the land. Doing what’s right is non-negotiable for us, it’s worth the investment.”

Jeremy Weekes, Agriculture Relationship Manager at Lloyds Bank, adds: “The key thing was having the confidence in the family and the generational relationship we had with them to allow Steve to go away on his own and create a business based on projections.”

The family-run business, which opened in 2018, has been named one of the world’s best after winning gold (Aval Dor Vodka) at the San Francisco World Spirits Championship for three year’s running. Colwith Farm Distillery’s premium collection of spirits stocked in selective high-end restaurants, bars, and retailers such as Selfridges and Harvey Nicholls.
