THREE men from Cornwall have been jailed this week for offences including theft, burglary, assault, and attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child.
The offenders were sentenced at Truro Crown Court in Cornwall between Friday 13 September and Thursday 19 October 2023.

Aged 34 and from Newquay, Laidlaw was sentenced to three years in prison at Truro Crown Court on Tuesday, October 17 for three counts of burglary and theft.

Aged 61 and from Wadebridge, Burden was sentenced to four years in prison at Truro Crown Court on Friday, October 13 for multiple counts of attempted sexual communication with a child and attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child.

Aged 37 and from Looe, Nelson was sentenced to 12 months in prison at Truro Crown Court on Friday, October 13 for two counts of assault by beating, and criminal damage.
The sentences come during the same week that new figures revealed that Devon and Cornwall are two of the safest places in the country.
According to the latest Office of National Statistics (ONS) crime figures released on Thursday 19 October 2023, Devon and Cornwall are the safest places to live and visit in England and Wales.
Devon and Cornwall have consistently been in the top three in recent years and the latest figures put Devon and Cornwall in first place, ahead of Wiltshire and North Yorkshire. Crime in Devon and Cornwall rose by 0.4%, below the national average of 2.6%.
