THE dates for this year's Helston Fatstock Show have been announced by organisers.

This year's Helston Fatstock Show takes place at Franchis Farm by permission of Bob Cowell, on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

This year's show is the 151st and one of the longest-running winter livestock shows in the country. Over the years, a craft fair has been added and is very popular with spaces going fast.

Cattle and sheep are on show and exhibitors come from all over Cornwall,  and some from over the border.

Secretary Alison Grose, said: "The committee works very hard every year to get the show to be one of the most popular around, with classes for livestock, Farm crops, fruit and veg, children’s, cookery, floral Art, photos, eggs, and crafts.

"There is something for everyone to enter, some take it seriously but mainly it is about the farming and public communities coming together for a fun-filled day.  We had our most successful show in 2022, and hope that this year's will be bigger again, with record entries in all sections except the cattle, as sadly a few of our regular exhibitors are unable to come, but still have good entries.

"This year there will be a hog roast onsite, from our caterers. We are also very grateful to Mr Bob Cowell who generously lets us have the use of Franchis farm for the show, also our sponsors old and new, as without their support it would be very difficult to hold the show as it is.”

This year's Presidents are Adam and Sarah Corbridge, who have strong ties to Helston, having been a part of Wearne's Jewellers and Lismore House. Their chosen charity for this year is BF Adventure at Longdowns and money raised from the charity auction will be donated to them. There will also be a card machine for the auction for anyone wishing to pay that way.

Admission is free to all, and all under one roof, however, due to the attendance of livestock, strictly no dogs are allowed except assistance dogs.
