A WARNING has been issued for flooding for parts of Truro and other areas over high tide this evening (Sunday, Oct 29).

A high spring tide combined with a large tidal surge will result in significantly high water levels over the high tide period, with levels being similar to those observed last evening.

High water at Truro is at 17:33 local time. Times of high water will vary along the coast. Flooding may occur up to two hours either side of the high tide. Expect tides to be around 600mm higher than predicted due to weather conditions.

Locations that may be affected include Newham Road, Garras Wharf including the Harbour Office, Malpas Road, Lemon Quay, Town Quay, Back Quay, Green Street, St Austell Street, Old Bridge Street, Festival Gardens, Boscawen Park and the A390

There may be standing water on roads. Do not drive through flood water or waves.

The tidal gates at Truro have been closed.

Coastal conditions should ease for Monday morning's high tide, however the situation is continuing to be monitored the situation. Please check online for any updates to this message

Flood warning area: South Cornwall coast at Truro including Garras Wharf, Newham Road, Lemon Quay, Malpas Road and other Truro Harbourside locations including Boscawen Park.

Flood warnings have also been issued on all high tides from tonight to Monday, October 30.  

High spring tides and a large tidal surge will result in significantly high water levels during this period. Forecast levels for Sunday evening are similar to Saturday evening when flooding was observed in several locations. 

Offshore wave heights up to 5m combined with Force 6-7 winds may exacerbate any flooding.   High water at Truro is 17:33 Sun, 05:54 and 18:13 Mon, local time.

Times will vary along the coast. Flooding may occur up to two hours either side of high tide. Expect tides to be ~ 600mm higher than predicted due to weather conditions.  Moderate waves and spray are likely. Take care near the coast.   Do not drive through flood water or waves.  

Low lying areas along the Helford and Fal, including A39 at Perranarworthal and exposed coastal locations including Portmellon seafront, Mevagissey Harbour area and Portholland are particularly at risk. Tidal gates at Flushing are closed. 

Conditions should ease for Tuesday morning's high tide.
