A PUB in Cornwall has been named the best this season by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Kernow.

The Blisland Inn, Bodmin has been named Pub of the Season by the Cornish brand of CAMRA beating nine other nominees.

Each of the nominated pubs was judged on the quality of real ale and cider, style, décor, furnishings and cleanliness, service, welcoming and offering, community focus and atmosphere and alignment with CAMRA principles – each factor which ultimately named The Blisland Inn the Pub of the Season.

Described as “a permanent mini beer festival” by CAMRA, The Blisland boasts a homely feel interior in several rooms, with 1930s dining tables and chairs.

However, it’s not just the inside which caught the attention of CAMRA. A spokesperson said: “If the weather is not too cold or wet, the benches in the garden at the front of the pub make an ideal quiet spot to watch the leaves falling from the trees on the village green while enjoying a few pints of excellent beer or cider.

An al fresco lunch is also a good idea from the range of good value and quality food.

“The pub faces South West, which is ideal for an autumn sunset.”

The Blisland will be presented with its award at the pub on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
