Mousehole’s former Methodist Sunday School building has sold at auction for £402,000 after strong bidding.

The freehold property in Chapel Street went for £77,000 more than the guide price and was among 137 lots listed across southern England by Clive Emson Auctioneers.

Katie Semmens, senior auction appraiser, said: “There was keen interest from bidders, with a total of 45 bids made and the final bid coming in at £402,000, which was £77,000 above guide price.

“As previously mentioned, this could be a great development opportunity, whether that be one large residence or maybe two spacious apartments, subject to all necessary consents being obtainable, but we are not privy to any plans the new owner may or may not have.

“The property provides deceptively spacious accommodation over two floors and enjoys fantastic sea views over the village and beyond to St Michael’s Mount.

“With parking spaces at a premium in Mousehole, the property also has two parking spaces on long leases located directly opposite.”
