Prior to tonight's huge firework display in Falmouth, firefighters have played host to several local charities and good causes who applied for a share of the money at last year's fireworks display.

A diverse range of groups all had a share of the profits including Penryn and Falmouth Food Bank, Mylor Flower Club, Falmouth Skate Park,  Carnon Careers, Falmouth Toy Library and The Fire Fighters Charity.

The visit comes prior to tonight's Falmouth Fire Station Firefighter's Social and Welfare Club annual firework display at Falmouth Cricket Club.

The club is inviting local charities and good causes to apply to be considered for a share of the proceeds from this year's community event.

They can do this by writing to the Social and Welfare Club Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service, Falmouth Community Fire Station, Trescobeas Road, Falmouth, Cornwall TR11 2LQ.

This year's charity firework display by Falmouth Fire Brigade will be the largest and most expensive displays the station has ever put on!

Sunday, November 5 will once again see Falmouth Firefighters lighting up the sky with their annual firework display.

Falmouth Firefighters Social and Welfare Club, and members of Falmouth Cricket Club will be hosting this year’s event at Falmouth Cricket Ground, Trescobeas Road. Gates open at 6pm for a 7pm start.

Chaos Radio will be providing the entertainment and attendees can enjoy a burger, jacket potato, hog roast or a doughnut amongst other refreshments. There will also be a children’s fairground ride.

"This year will see £8,000 worth of fireworks being let off to music," said the station. "This is guaranteed to be one of the largest displays in the county with a very explosive line up of fireworks; this is one the largest and most expensive displays the station has put on!"

Gates will open at 6pm for a 7pm start. People are being encouraged people to get there in good time, as huge crowds arriving at 7pm make it very difficult for them to get everyone into the ground on time. Also there is no car parking on site at this event, so please allow for this in advance.

Entry is £5 for adults and £2.50 for children; children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Cash only.
