FALMOUTH’S Christmas lights will be switched on in front of hundreds of people  this month and once again the organisers are seeking a worthy individual or group to turn on them on.

Continuing Falmouth’s tradition, the organisers are seeking a worthy individual or group to turn on the Christmas lights at THE BIG SWITCH-ON, on the November 30 at 7pm!

Nominations should be sent via email to ruth@falmouth.co.uk

Nominations will close on Thursday, November 23 at 12pm and the lucky individual or group will need to be free from 5.30pm to 8pm on the evening of the switch on.

When considering your nominee(s), you will have to say why you are putting them forward. It could be they are a community champion, someone who has raised money for charity or a local, un-sung hero. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but they want to hear from you!

Don’t forget to include their full name and contact details in your nomination so we can ensure they are available on the night.

The event, organised by Falmouth Town Council and Falmouth BID, is combined with a brilliant atmosphere and kick-starts the towns festive season. Local bands, choirs, and schools will take to the stage either side of the switch-on.

Event breakdown (please note, all timings are approximate):

  • 5.30pm – The Rock Choir will be warming up the audience on The Moor
  • 5.40pm - The parade with local children, led by Kernow Pipes and Drums, will leave Events Square down the main streets to The Moor.
  • 6.15 pm - Local schools perform carols and Christmas songs.
  • 7pm - The big switch on!
  • 7.05pm - Performances continue from Sing Choir and Viva Voce, so you can enjoy the atmosphere for longer.
