A PENZANCE woman has been sentenced after pleading guilty to driving without due care and attention without a licence.
Nicole Alexander, aged 18, of Buccaneer Street in Penzance, appeared in front of magistrates at Truro Magistrates' Court on Thursday, October 19 on one count of driving a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and one count of driving a vehicle on a road or in a public place without due care and attention.
The offences took place in Helston on Monday, May 8, 2023, where Alexander was found to have driven a Renault Clio on Clodgey Lane in Helston without due care and attention and without a licence authorising her to do so.
She pleaded guilty to both offences when she appeared in court on Thursday, October 19.
During her sentencing, Alexander was fined £80 and received six points on her licence as well as having her driving record endorsed. She was also ordered to pay costs of £80 to the Crown Prosecution Service and to pay a surcharge of £32.
According to the Sentencing Council, the maximum fine a person can receive for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence is unlimited, with offences ranging in categories from Level one to Level five, with the latter being the most severe.
The maximum sentence for driving without due care and attention is a maximum fine.
