A Falmouth man found guilty of damaging a white Range Rover Evoque and harassing the woman who owned it has been given a two year restraining order.

Gary Jay Terry Harrington, aged 34, of Ferndale Road, Falmouth had pleaded not guilty to criminal damage and harassment without violence when he appeared at Truro Magistrates’ Court on March 27 this year.

However after a trial on October 11 he was found guilty on both counts by magistrates sitting at Truro. He appeared back in court last week for sentencing.

The criminal damage charge relates to damage caused to the Evoque in Redruth belonging to the named woman on August 21 last year and the harassment of her by going to her home address, sending her unwanted messages and caused damage to her property between March 31, 2022 and August 22, 2022.

Harrington was made the subject of community order which includes attending a building better relationships course and carrying out 250 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

He was also made the subject of a two year restraining order not to contact or enter the street of the woman’s home address in Redruth until November 8, 2025.

He was also ordered to pay compensation of £150 and to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £114.

He was also ordered to pay costs of £775 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
