With only four more days to go, more information about Helston's Christmas Light Switch-on has been revealed, including the location of an important guest - Santa. 

The Helston Christmas Light Switch-on organisers have revealed a stellar lineup of entertainment starting from 5pm on Friday, November 24.

With thousands of people expected to come into town for the event, the organisers of the Christmas lights have revealed more information about timings throughout the evening.

There will also be various food stalls on offer selling hog roast, burgers, wraps, cookies, chocolate churros, hot jacket potatoes and doughnuts. Most of Helston’s takeaway shops will also be open.

Once again, Santa along with his elves will be located on Meneage Street from 5.30pm. Children will have the opportunity to come and have a chat with Santa and the elves.

 Musical entertainment will be performed by Kerrier Male Choir from 6pm on centre stage in Coinagehall Street.

There will also be music from the local band Cornish Roots by the Guildhall and Helston Concert Band in Meneage Street and a performance at 7pm from Helston Town Band on the centre stage.

There are bus stops based near the town centre if routes are planned carefully.

Taxis will be at temporary ranks at Monument Road and the bottom of town, or up by the VW garage at the top of town.

Members of the public are being asked to refrain from parking in the town from 2pm on switch-on day as streets will need to be cleared by 3.40pm for traders to start getting their pitches ready.

Both Meneage Street and Coinagehall Street will be closed off to traffic apart from emergency vehicles from 3.40pm until 10pm.
