TWO men have been arrested following an incident involving a handgun in Camborne earlier today. 

Police were called to Basset Road in Camborne at 1:35pm today following reports of an incident involving a man who was believed to be in possession of a gun making threats. 

During the incident, the man reportedly threatened another man in the street before leaving the scene.  Both local and firearms officers attended the scene.

A search of the area was carried out and a handgun was recovered from a location close to the railway. Following the discovery, two men were arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of offences under the Firearms Act.

A video taken by Tracy Bassett, who was present at the time, shows armed police with dogs leading a man away by a railway crossing in Camborne. 

The two men remain in police custody at this time. 

It has been reported that police are now allowing people through the area again. 

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 1.35pm today, 24 November, following reports of an incident on Basset Road, Camborne.

"A man, believed to be in possession of a handgun, made threats to a man in the street. The suspect left the scene. Firearms and local officers attended.

"Following a search, a handgun was recovered near the railway. Two men were arrested in connection with this incident on suspicion of offences under the Firearms Act and remain in police custody."
