Truro’s ‘Festive Friday’ certainly lived up to its name this week, as thousands of people came into the city to watch the Christmas lights being switched on.

The light switch-on coincided with the launch of Festive Friday, a series of events throughout the remainder of November and throughout December to ramp up the festive mood.

The evening began with special entertainment organised by Hall for Cornwall before the lights were switched on by cast members from Hall for Cornwall’s Christmas Show Peter Pan, the city’s town crier Lionel Knight, and Holly and Johnny from Pirate FM.

“A huge thank you to everyone who came along, and to everyone who took part in the event.

“Thanks also to the Truro businesses who pay the BID levy and make it possible for us to fund and install Truro’s Christmas lights each year.

“We really urge everyone to continue to support Truro’s businesses in person this Christmas by shopping, eating and drinking and using other businesses in the city over the festive period.”
