The organisers of a popular lantern parade in Cornwall have revealed the date and theme for this year’s event.

Penzance’s Humphry Davy Lantern Parade will take place on Saturday, December 16 and the theme this year is “A Cornish Christmas” which reflects the community’s appreciation for its Cornish heritage whilst shining the theme through its famous son’s Cornish invention, ‘The Davy Lamp’.

Humphry Davy School accompanied by the mayor of Penzance and local musicians will lead the procession, which will consist of an array of homemade lanterns, created by local school children with help from local artists, as well as lanterns created by community workshops hosted by Jubilee Pool and the Big Dance Company.
