A vulnerable teenager used her mobile phone to film her drunken boyfriend attacking her so violently that she needed hospital treatment.

The 19-year-old woman was using her phone to play music and managed to switch on the video camera and record Ryan Angove as he climbed on top of her and dug his fingers into her neck.

The video footage was shown at Truro Crown Court and showed her being thrown around her bedroom and verbally abused after Angove came home drunk at 4am one morning last month.

A judge heard the victim positioned her mobile phone so that it could record his vile behaviour - while playing music to distract him.

A week later Ryan Angove, 30, again attacked her again - this time strangling her and beating her around her face. He again dug his fingers into her face.

Angove, aged 30, previously of St Just, but now of no fixed address, admitted intentional strangulation and two counts of causing actual bodily harm and was jailed for two and a half years by Judge Simon Carr.

He told Angove it was sustained domestic violence and that Angove took 'perverse pleasure in humiliating her'.

Miss Sally Daulton, prosecuting, said the victim needed hospital treatment for a hand injury after the first assault and suffered bruising to her neck and cuts to her face in the second.

Mr Martin Pearce, defending, said Angove is truly remorseful and has started to tackle his drink and drug problems while in custody.
