Crowds of people flocked to Penryn last night to take part in the annual Christmas lights switch-on.
The evening began at 6pm with the Salvation Army playing carols on the chapel steps followed by a Lantern led by Embrace.
At 6.30pm there was the welcome to the evening by the chairman of Penryn Christmas Lighting Committee, Mark Snowdon where the winner of the Shop Window Competition was announced and the lights were switched on by special guest Roger Reynolds.
Community Carols then took place with Penryn Primary Academy and Salvation Army
Father Christmas was outside the town hall in his sleigh with his tinsel helpers.
A performance by Embrace took place on the junction between Higher Market Street and Saracen Place
The Temperance Hall hosted Soul Sensations for a Christmas Extravaganza. Mince pies and Festive Liquid to accompany.
“Sasha Would’ve Loved it” Charity Shop hosted Santa’s Grotto in West Street with Craft Stalls in the Town Hall from 6pm.
Best shop window (town) Best shop window (Commercial Road) and Best private house window were also announced (TBC).
