Police cordoned off an address in Penryn and ordered people living nearby to evacuate their homes after potentially explosive items were found inside.

Police say they went to the address in Glasney Place last Thursday, November 30 to try and find a man wanted for breaching his licence conditions.

Following further investigation they searched the property and found items they feared may be explosive and called the bomb disposal team who attended.

The area was sealed off and residents living nearby were advised to evacuate their homes inside the police cordon. They were eventually allowed back into their homes until Sunday once the searches were finished and the police cordon lifted.

A statement given to the Packet by Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police attended an address in Glasney Place, Penryn, on Thursday 30 November, as part of enquiries to locate a man who was wanted for breaching his licence conditions.

“Following attendance, further enquiries led to officers searching the property.
