Coastline Housing, a Redruth-based charity, has been reaccredited with the national Investing in Volunteers charter mark.

Recognised for its exceptional volunteer programme, the charity has been welcoming volunteers, providing them an array of opportunities to gain workplace experience, training, and more.

The charity incorporates around 50 volunteers in its numerous core services including the Homeless Service, Extra Care scheme, and other initiatives.

Last year, it contributed an impressive 3,636 hours to the charity, equalling to a social value estimate of £325,314.

Additionally, in the past year, seven volunteers were able to secure permanent employment.

Volunteer manager, Tamsyn Pegler said: "We could not be prouder of this accomplishment.

"The contribution the volunteers make to our customers and communities is so valuable and we are proud to have them involved in our work."

These volunteers are extensively trained by the charity to fulfil various roles.

They partake in befriending roles, guiding and advising roles, in addition to performing specific tasks at the Homeless Service, including gardening, life skills and more.

Ms Pegler added: "It’s astounding the amount of skills people have and the ways they want to help out.

"One volunteer who worked as a hairdresser wanted to offer her services by popping into the Homeless Service and offering free haircuts to clients who wanted them before attending job interviews.

"Needless to say, we were delighted to welcome her and so were the clients."

The charity has even extended its volunteer programme to include younger individuals aged 14-18 years.

The move allows them to offer opportunities for students needing to volunteer as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award programme and other similar initiatives.

In addition to continuously maintaining a strong and beneficial volunteer programme, Coastline Housing was also assessed against six quality areas.

Excelling in all aspects of coordination with its volunteers, it proved its unwavering commitment to its volunteer management policies and procedures.

The chair of UKVF, the awarding body, conveyed their pleasure over the charity's achievement.

They said: "UKVF is delighted to announce Coastline‘s successful achievement of this Award, they have demonstrated a real commitment to volunteering, proven that their volunteer management policies and procedures meet nationally recognised standards."

Coastline Housing maintains its dedication to volunteering and encourages others to be a part of the journey.
