Christmas spirit arrived early this year, thanks to the generosity of a Cornish taxi firm.
Members of A2B Taxis have recently delivered three car loads of food, toiletries, and Christmas presents to the DISC Newquay Centre, totalling more than £1,000 in value. The donations will be distributed throughout the community to families and children facing hardship during the Christmas period.
A spokesperson from A2B Taxis said: “We know that Christmas can be a tough time for many families. With rising inflation and the cost of living going up, the basic essentials like food and energy are becoming increasingly expensive.
“We wanted to do our part to help by providing some festive comfort and support to those in our community who might not be able to fully celebrate Christmas.
The donations were taken to DISC Newquay which is a vital community hub dedicated to supporting vulnerable individuals and families who have expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the generous donation.
Monique Collins, manager of DISC said she was ‘blown away’ by the amount of donations provided by A2B. She said: “It was phenomenal when A2B turned up with three car loads of donations. It was certainly most welcome.
“It really blew me away and we are thrilled by all the donations we have received this year.”
This year, DISC is also donating food boxes to people across Cornwall, not just in Newquay. Monique said: “We usually operate just for people in the Newquay area, but this year we have distributed fresh food boxes to other parts of the county.
“So far, it has been proven to be a great success.”
