One of the main roads from Helston to Redruth will be shut for two days to allow essential maintenance road works to take place.

To allow highway maintenance work, an urgent road closure is in place today (Wednesday) and Thursday on the B3297 between Nine Maidens and Wendron on the Redruth Road.

The road will be closed between the hours of 7.30am and 5.30pm - on both days, to allow workers to restore the carriageway skid resistance.

A spokesperson for Cormac said: “We need to implement this measure to give our teams a safe working zone and protect road users while the work is carried out.

“We will have marshals on site to support residents and businesses needing local access. All through traffic will need to follow the diversions in place.

“Thank you for your patience while these works take place. To prevent delays, and to enable us to maintain emergency access, please do not park on, or obstruct the highway during working hours.”

Cormac also explained that signs will be placed at major junctions before the closure on the key routes to take non-through traffic away from the closure and keep traffic disruption to a minimum,

The diversion routes provided by Cormac are suitable for the type of traffic that would usually use the route. However, Cormac said they ‘appreciate’ that the diversions can be sometimes quite lengthy, but for the works to be carried out safely to protect operatives and road users, the measures need to be implemented.

Access for residents and businesses will be maintained through gateways managed by traffic marshals, residents will need to stop at the gateways and Cormac staff members will be on hand to help those get into, or out of the roadworks site safely using the right route.
