A 72-acre resort in St Ives, Cornwall, is to celebrate its 250th anniversary with a year of special events.

Tregenna Castle Resort, St Ives, was originally built in 1774.

Investment over the years means it now features hotel rooms, apartments, self-catering properties, two restaurants, a golf course, an indoor and outdoor pool, tennis courts and investment properties.

Throughout 2024, Tregenna Castle plans to commemorate its milestone with a series of community activities, environmental initiatives and special offers.

Among the planned initiatives is the planting of 250 trees within and around the resort.

In a nod to the anniversary, the 250th guest to check in each month will be gifted with a bottle of Champagne.

Limited-edition cocktails will also be made available at the Godrevy View restaurant and Olives bar.

The resort staff will be undertaking 250 acts of kindness throughout the year.

There will also be opportunities for guests to enjoy competitions and special offers.

The resort's operations director, James Parker, said: "2024 is going to be huge for us at Tregenna.

"We are all excited about celebrating 250 years of this special building, but the anniversary means much more than that.

"We are using this as an opportunity to safeguard our resort, community and environment for the future.

"We have been here for 250 years, and we want to keep going for another 250 at least."

Prior to the upcoming festivities, Tregenna had invested more than £1.5 million in renewable and sustainable energy in 2023.

This investment resulted in the creation of a large solar array that now sees the resort over-producing energy and feeding it back into the grid during longer sunlight hours.

In addition, a combined heat and power unit (CHP) turbine, a Capstone C65, has recently become operational.

This utilises gas to generate electricity and heat water for the hotel's heating and hot water supply.

Over the years Tregenna Castle has hosted several famous guests, including Prince Phillip, Prime Minister John Major, David Attenborough, Dame Judi Dench, Anthony Joshua and David Bowie.

More details about Tregenna Castle Resort's 2024 initiatives will be announced in the coming weeks and months.
