Buses are being diverted away from the centre of Truro this lunchtime following a ‘police incident’.

Cornwall by Kernow warned on its social media feeds just before 1pm today (Saturday) that drivers were being forced to use the Christmas diversion route for the time being.

This meant that buses would not be able to stop in Boscawen Street outside the former Wilko store.

The company warned: “Due to a police incident our buses in and around Truro, including P&R, are using the Christmas diversion route until further notice so we will be unable to serve the stop in Boscawen Street outside the ex-Wilko shop.”

There have been no further updates on the bus routes since then.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service have since reported that crews are dealing with a "dangerous structure" in St Nicholas Street.

The first call came in at 12.30pm, with one pumping appliance and the aerial ladder platform from Truro being sent to the incident.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival firefighters discovered a section of external render which was in a dangerous position at height.

"Firefighters using the aerial platform assisted to make the scene safe."

This was not the only incident in Truro this lunchtime however,. When the Packet contacted Devon and Cornwall Police, the on-duty force incident manager told the Packet that officers had been called to reports of an assault in Lemon Street.

Officers that first arrived at the scene called for back up and one person had since been arrested.

The force incident manager said: “We have been called to an assault. We have got one person in custody.

“It looks as though we have had to send other units down.”

The Packet will bring you further updates on this incident if they become available.
