Over 100 Cornish dancers will take to the stage in celebrating The Big Dance Company's 24-year anniversary.

The much-anticipated show of talent will take place at the Hall for Cornwall on February 11.

Over the years, The Big Dance Company, under the leadership of company director Fiona Richardson, has trained generations of performers garnering attention on grand platforms like Britain’s Got Talent, Eurovision and The X Factor.

Leading the narration on stage are 130 dancers, including up-and-coming talents and returning alumni, all coming together to pay tribute to Mrs Richardson's journey.

Fiona Richardson said: "I overcame extreme challenges including homelessness and domestic abuse, yet went on to re-write my future through my love of dance, dedication to encouraging others, sacrificing all of my time and little money to develop, support and care for young dancers across Cornwall."

As The Big Dance Company celebrates its 24th anniversary, it is also marking the culmination of a four-year campaign to save their training centre, the Methodist church at Chapel St in Penzance.

Sceptical about the prospect of the building being sold on the public market, a groundswell initiative comprised of a Community Ownership Fund, the Architectural Heritage Fund, Live west and Penzance Town Council, as well as a successful crowdfunding campaign, secured the building for community use.

Mrs Richardson and her husband, Ben, have spent years dedicated to offering affordable, international-grade training to dancers from the region.

Her resilience is echoed in her son Kyle Ritchie, who leads the famous dance troupe Flava, known for their appearance in the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent in 2008.

The multi-generational display of talent continues with Mr Ritchie's daughter Rio, and Becca Gowers, an alumna and her daughter Elsie, who join forces.

Another notable alumni, Luca Rainbow, 19, will return to the stage after making a name for himself in the dance industry, performing in big productions such as Eurovision, The Voice, the Brit Awards and music videos.

The Big Dance Company welcomes audiences and lovers of dance to catch this unique performance on February 11, and they also extend special discounts to large school groups and youth clubs wishing to experience the show.

Tickets can be purchased from www.hallforcornwall.co.uk starting from £15.
