The renowned Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) has announced dozens of events and workshops across Cornwall this spring.

The 25 events range from health and wellbeing, education projects, interactive community performances and more.

BSO chief executive Dougie Scarfe OBE said: "We're thrilled to return to Cornwall with the full Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra this spring in a series of events and workshops for people of all ages."

A major highlight will be the eight health and wellbeing experiences that are set to take place from Bodmin to Saltash and Truro.

The experiences include performances in care homes, dementia-friendly cake concerts, and creative health workshops.

The orchestra has teamed up with educational hub ASONE to present at least ten workshops and performances for all ages.

These include school workshops; a schools’ concert in Redruth; and side-by-side events with amateur musicians of all ages.

Making its appearance in full symphonic glory, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra will unite with its principal guest conductor, Mark Wigglesworth, and rising star pianist Ethan Loch, at Truro’s Hall for Cornwall on Friday, March 22.

A particular performance to look forward to is Fault Lines, a brand-new musical interpretation inviting the audience to participate, sing and play along.

Local instrumentalists are set to unite with opera singers and BSO musicians presenting a tale of mining, migration, mythology, memories, and mischief inspired by conversations at Geevor Tin Mine.

The orchestra also focuses on performance opportunities for people of all ages, from school children to adult amateur musicians.

The full Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is set to present a Symphony in a Day project on March 23 in Truro, allowing amateur adult players of all ages to perform Beethoven’s famous Fifth Symphony.

The orchestra’s residency culminates in a full-scale performance at Truro’s Hall for Cornwall on March 22, featuring Verdi’s Force of Destiny overture, Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.
