A Cornish Italian entrepreneur behind a luxury tiramisu company has opened his first innovative street food restaurant in the heart of the Roseland.
Ugo Massabo, founder of TiramisUGO, has opened The Cornish Italian's Street Food Trattoria in Ruan Highlanes near Truro.
After a successful soft launch in June 2023, The Cornish Italian will welcome customers from Tuesday to Sunday, creating a vibrant hub for Cornish Italian culinary delights.
Expressing his excitement about his new venture Ugo, the brains behind The Cornish Italian, said: "The response during our soft launch has been overwhelmingly positive.
“We're thrilled to extend our opening hours and welcome more guests to experience the unique blend of flavours, passion, and creativity that defines The Cornish Italian."
The company says The Cornish Italian brings a fresh twist to the traditional trattoria experience with its street food concept.
Following a well-received soft launch, the trattoria is set to welcome more guests with an extended opening schedule from 9 am to 8pm, Tuesday through Sunday for brunch, lunch and dinner.
Culinary Highlights include Cornish Italian Breakfast Offer including poached eggs and bacon and egg delights.
Lunch and dinner includes handcrafted pasta dishes, said to showcase "the perfect fusion of Italian authenticity and Cornish freshness" as well as the award-winning TiramisUGO.
The trattoria is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 8 pm with what it calls an “Immersive Street Food Experience”.
No reservations are needed – people can drop by and order at the counter and savour the authentic tastes of Italy and Cornwall.
The company started back in 2018 when Ugo left the theatre world and, using his late father’s recipe, began hand-making tiramisu in environmentally friendly glass jars from Cornish Italian ingredients.
An award winning product, TiramisUGO scooped the Gold Taste of the West in 2020 as well as a one star Great Taste Award.
The business has grown steadily since then, even during the pandemic when the company diversified to delivering locally using their distinctive blue van.
