A desperate mother says she feels “totally bereft” and at a loss what to do next as she approaches the two-month anniversary of her son Daniel’s disappearance.

Karran Minchinton is still desperately looking for answers over why her 35-year-old son, Daniel Mizzi, has still not been seen since he travelled to the St Ives area of Cornwall on Friday, December 8 last year (2023).

He had caught the train from Plymouth and got off at St Erth. He was last seen in St Ives that same day.

Since then Karran has had no news or contact from her son, and police appeals asking for the public’s help in tracing him have so far come to nothing.

Karen told the Packet: “Daniel is 35 and this is so out of character for him.

“I am so scared and worried for his safety; totally bereft and so not knowing what to do next.

“I cannot believe that nobody has seen him.”

The most recent update from Devon and Cornwall Police included a CCTV image of Daniel on the day he went missing.

He was wearing a dark coloured coat, fitted black jeans or trousers, and dark grey casual lace-up shoes.

He appeared to be carrying a rucksack or bag with a strap across his front, and his hair had grown slightly longer than in the original police appeal images.

In a statement police said: “Following extensive enquiries by officers it was established that Daniel was seen at St Erth train station at 12.08pm on Friday, December 8.

“He was seen a short time later walking towards the coastal path at the Carbis Bay Hotel.

“The last confirmed sighting of Daniel was at 1.38pm, where he was seen walking along the coastal path at Porthmeor Beach.

“We are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have seen Daniel, particularly after the last sighting at Porthmeor, to report any relevant information to us, including anyone who was walking on the coastal path on Friday and anyone in the area who may have CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage and hasn’t already been spoken to by police.”

Anyone who sees Daniel is asked to contact police on 999 quoting 50230321378.
