Commuters are being warned of an upcoming five-day road closure in Helston – which will begin this week.
Cornwall Council has issued a road closure on the B3297 (Helston to Falmouth Road) which will come into effect between 9.30am and 4.30pm from Thursday, February 8 until Tuesday,13.
According to the council, the road will be shut between the roundabout just by the Toyota Garage in Helston and just before the roundabout near the Park an Daras housing estate.
The council is asking people not to park or obstruct the highway during these hours, so the maintenance team can carry out carriageway repair works safely.
However, for residents living in the area, there will be marshals on site, to support them as well as businesses needing local access. The council added: “All through traffic will need to follow the diversions in place.”
To allow motorists to plan, diversion signs will be placed at major junctions before the closure. However, access routes for residents will be maintained by traffic marshals. The council said: “Residents will need to stop at the gateways.
“Our staff will help you get into, or out of the roadworks site safely using the right route.”
The council added that it will ‘do its best’ to notify the public of any cancellations or postponements of the upcoming works.
